Applesauce
by Ellen Fruchtman, CEO
Why buy the Mott’s when it’s so easy (and delicious) to make your own?
Ingredients
- 4 pounds Apples Any will do, but I usually do Envy or Honeycrisp
- 6-8 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt Can be omitted
Instructions
- This recipe is meant for crockpot use, but I’m sure you can cook it in a large pot. Timing may change.
- Pour your water, lemon juice, salt, and 2 cinnamon sticks on the bottom.
- Layer your apple chunks and continue to add your cinnamon sticks to each layer. Make sure the cinnamon sticks are tucked in for the last layer.
- Turn your crockpot on for 4 hours. You can stir in between a few times. The cinnamon sticks can be used twice; just rinse and dry them overnight and wrap them for your next use in this recipe! Jar the applesauce and enjoy!
